AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - Today, Syensqo broke ground on its upcoming facility in Augusta.

Officials with the company were joined by members of the Biden administration and city officials like Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson.

When completed, the facility will be the largest of its kind in North America and will supply the growing needs of the clean energy industry.

The facility will produce vital materials needed to create e-v batteries.

Syensqo claims the materials will be used in their upgraded battery, which company leaders claim will help cars go farther on each charge.

White house officials say this facility is the first of its kind in North America.

According to those officials, this new facility is part of the Biden administration's initiative to invest in America. They also mention Syensqo is making efforts to make connections with educational institutions like Augusta Technical College to train students interested in working in the clean energy industry.
