AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The Henry Brigham Center is a community facility that has recently undergone an upgrade costing nearly $9 million.

The renovations include a revamped track surrounding the building, an indoor track above the gym, and an e-sports section specially designed for children.

In addition, a new set of elevators has been installed to aid those who require assistance in reaching the top floor.

City officials say this is just the first of many planned renovations for centers in Augusta.

"We want to make sure District 5 and the city of Augusta have a facility they can be proud of. The Swim Center is on the list, the Senior Center is on the list for upgrades. This is definitely enough to spark the fire to get the engine going to get the community", excited expressed Takiyah Douse, Interim Administrator

City officials are calling the facility state of the art and hope to base further renovations for other centers on the Henry Brigham Center. The new center is expected to be open to the public in June.
