Groundbreaking held for new fire station in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The Augusta Fire Department held a groundbreaking today for the new fire station 3, located off Powell Road near Gordon Highway.

The fire department says the new building will be a state-of-the-art facility and have enhanced emergency response capabilities.

Among the features slated to be in the new fire station is a clean room where firefighters decontaminate and a community room where members of the community can gather at the fire station and speak to firefighters about any concern they may have. 

Fox 54 has not received a statement on when the fire station is set to be completed. Fox 54 will update you when we have an official date for the opening of the station.
