The South Carolina Department of Public Safety reminding residents that the warning period for having a Carolina Squat ends on May 9th.

Starting on May 10th, law enforcement in the Palmetto State will begin enforcing the law passed by lawmakers banning the Carolina Squat. According to the law, squatted vehicles include any vehicles raised four or more inches higher than others.

It is against the law to operate these vehicles on South Carolina roads.

The first offense will result in a misdemeanor and a $100 fine. On the third offense, the driver will lose their driving privileges for one year and will be fined $300.
