EVANS, Ga (WFXG) - The Columbia County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will host its third annual "Public Safety and Preparedness Fair" on Saturday.

Several departments, including Fire Rescue, Roads & Bridges, Natural Resources, and the Sheriff's Office, will be there with vehicles, toys, and tools. Attendees can meet the K-9 officers and adopt pets, according to organizers. There will also be carnival rides, live music, and food trucks.

The free event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Evans Towne Center Park.

County officials announced temporary road closures for the event:

  • Antebellum Way will be closed to all traffic from 8 p.m. Friday to midnight on Saturday.
  • Evans Town Center Boulevard, from Ronald Reagan Drive to Antebellum Way, will also be closed to all thru traffic from 6 a.m. Saturday until midnight.

Officials are closing the roads to reduce crashes and keep pedestrians safe. They say pedestrian traffic is expected to be extremely high in that area.

When driving, pay attention to your surroundings at all times, obey traffic control devices and law enforcement, and stay alert for pedestrians, especially children, according to officials.
