BURKE COUNTY, Ga. - UPDATE: The man pulled from the mobile home fire has been booked and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to the Burke County Sheriff's office, other charges will follow as the investigation continues. 

The Sheriff's Office found in their investigation that Arrie Williams tried to wrap a distraction device in a towel, thinking that it was tear gas. This started the fire in the living room of the mobile home and caused it to spread. 

The woman pulled from the fire was not a target of the investigation and was released.

Two people were pulled out of a mobile home fire after a standoff with law enforcement in Burke County. 

According to the release shared with Fox 54,  the Burke County Sheriff's Office were executing a search warrant on a mobile home on East 7th street.  Authorities spotted the person of interest entering the home. 

When authorities approached the property, the target of the search barricaded the door and refused them entry. During the course of the standoff, deputies noticed a fire coming from the residence. 

The person of interest refused to leave the property despite the fire. However, deputies managed to enter the property and pull the person of interest and another person from the residence. 

Both occupants of the mobile home were taken into custody. It was later determined that neither of them had any injuries. 

The Waynesboro Fire Department later extinguished the fire.
