BAMBERG Co., S.C. (WFXG) - Bamberg County man survives EF-2 tornado at Oak to Barrel, South Carolina, which was the strongest point and where the supercell touched down Tuesday.

Wind and debris. He thought that was going to be the last thing he saw.

David Hutto, the General Manager at Oak to Barrel, sent all the employees home as the storm was moving in. Everyone except himself

“That was the last thing I was going to see, was the roof getting ripped off and everything else,” said David Hutto.

“The weather alert went off that there was a tornado warning. Then about 30 seconds after that the glass in our building started shattering, then at 2:50 the roof was gone and it was just really loud and windy,” Hutto continued.

His co-workers said he was huddled in a corner.

“He was in a corner… and that corner is barely here. That is what we are most thankful for,” said Casey Hattaway.

The CEO of Oak to Barrel, Eddie Hill says the building does have insurance.

But the important part is everyone is safe. They are hopeful to restore the building and grow even more as a company.

“The buildings and stuff can be replaced. That just cost money. But the loss of life… that cannot be replaced. And that's where the miracle comes in,” said Eddie Hill.

Many houses had windows shattered and trees fallen into their homes. A local construction company is still doing charity work to help with temporary repairs for the incoming storm Friday.

Mike Baldwin posted on his FaceBook account saying he is wanting to be a “good Christian man.” and help those in need during this crisis. He told FOX 54 he is grateful for his community and wants to help.

“If it wasn't for this community and this town, they'd have given me a lot of work here and a lot of friends here, so I'm out here to help the neighborhood. This is a very tight-knit community and everyone helps each other out,” said Baldwin.

“I'm not looking for any pay. I'm out here to help. I'm not out here to just clean up yards. Im taking trees out of living rooms and front porches and cars. Patching roofs, whatever I can do to help out,” said Baldwin.
