AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Santa Claus arrived at the Augusta Regional Airport’s fourth annual fly-in event in a helicopter. His sleigh is being fixed up for Christmas, so he hitched a ride to come visit with kids from the Augusta Boys and Girls Club.
The airport puts on a Christmas party for a different organization in the community each year. Kids are able to sit on Santa’s lap, make ornaments, eat snow cones and sing karaoke. As much as they enjoy the fun, airport workers say they look forward to it all year.
Lauren Smith, PR and Customer Service Manager of Augusta Regional said, “Christmas is a special time of year and a lot of kids within the community in these organizations don’t necessarily have the opportunity for a Christmas party, so we want to provide that for them.”
