AUGUSTA (WFXG) - In Richmond County city leaders came together to clear the area of public safety hazards. They put down the handcuffs and picked up the chainsaws all to remove downed trees that could potentially delay saving a life.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the District Attorneys Office to clean up after Tropical Storm Michael. Deputies focused on intersections that were without power and removed debris from communities.
District Attorney, Natalie Paine, says they are happy to give back to the community. “It’s something different than what we do everyday, so we have a good time hanging out with each other and getting to do something different than what we normally do so it’s a lot of hard work but it’s a lot of fun too.”
They urge anyone going out on the roads to be careful while driving.
