RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - UPDATE: The Richmond County Sheriff's Office arrested Seven Whitfield, 23 on June 11th  in connection to the shooting downtown Augusta. He is charged with Possession of a Firearm or Knife during a Crime and Aggravated Assault.

Bond for each suspect was listed at $7,900 for weapons charge. No bond was listed for the aggravated assault charge.

The GBI is also investigating this incident.


The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested a man in connection to the downtown Augusta shooting

19-year-old Amazing Lee Blessed Brigham of Hephzibah was arrested and charged with 2 counts aggravated assault and 1 count of possession of a gun during the commission of a crime.

Upon arriving deputies say at least one person was injured. Deputies also found a male suspect with an assault rifle, who had opened fire into a crowd of people striking an unknown amount. In a press conference, Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree says in part, “Deputies immediately engaged the suspect who was firing an assault style weapon into the crowd of fleeing bystanders by returning fire.”

According to Sheriff Roundtree, the suspect was taken into custody and to the hospital to be treated.

There are two others known to be injured from non-threatening gunshot wounds who are stable and in recovery.
