RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - If you've been in Downtown Augusta recently, you may have noticed the road closures and road work being done in the area.

The bright orange cones and closed roads are all connected to Downtown Augusta's Infrastructure plan.

"They're currently doing some repaving work and doing some brickwork," John Ussery, Assistant Director of Traffic and Engineering, states.

Costing around 12 million dollars to add new things like bike lanes and lighting.

"Mostly, they are installing sidewalks and lighting, some storm drain improvements..." Ussery explains.

Residents in the area can soon see improvements on 5th, 6th, 13th, Broad, Green, and Telfair streets.

With construction in the area, people who visit Siris Sage have to look for different parking sports.

"When you come in, and you're looking for a parking spot, but you got three trucks and a crane there," Soveren, Manager of Siris Sage, expressed.

Soveren, like others, says they are looking forward to when everything is completed.

"That will make everybody working downtown and living downtown feel great," Michael Williams

While there isn't a specific date, city officials tell us they believe that some of the projects will be completed sometime during the Fall.
