EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WFXG) - Two people are dead after a crash on US Hwy 25 in Edgefield County. The incident happened on Monday, May 21, around 1:28 pm.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, two vehicles were involved: a 2023 Western Star tractor-trailer and a 2007 Honda Civic.

South Carolina Highway Patrol says the tractor-trailer was traveling south on Highway 25 near Rabbit Trail, and the Honda Civic was traveling north.

According to a press release, the Honda Civic was trying to escape law enforcement and traveled off the right side of the road to pass an unknown car. 

The Honda Civic then reentered the highway left to center and ended up colliding head into the tractor-trailer.

The Honda Civic had two people inside the car, both were prounouned dead. The driver of the tractor-trailer was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
