Possible human remains found in Bamberg county burned vehicle

BAMBERG COUNTY, S.C. - According to the Bamberg County Sheriff's Office, a burned vehicle was found Tuesday afternoon that appears to contain human remains.

FOX54 was on the scene of Barnwell Highway and Turn Ray road Tuesday afternoon, as sheriff's office vehicles blocked off Turn Ray road to search the area.

The sheriff's office says they were assisted by the SC Department of Natural Resources, the Denmark Fire Department, and the Bamberg County Coroner's Office.

At this time, the identity of the deceased has yet to be released. The investigation has been turned over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The news comes just 3 days after the Bamberg County Sheriff's Office began asking to public to help them find missing Bamberg county woman Megan Bodiford, whom they considered "endangered."

fOX54 SPOKE WITH FAMILY FRIENDS OF THE MISSING WOMAN. THEY SAY THEY BELIEVE THE BODY FOUND IS MEGAN BECAUSE HER BOYFRIEND LIVES JUST A COUPLE MILES DOWN THE ROAD.

THE TWO WOMEN WE SPOKE WITH ON SCENE KEPT SAYING TUESDAY WAS A SAD DAY FOR ALL, BUT THEY REALLY HOPE THEY FOUND MEGAN JUST TO GIVE HER FAMILY CLOSURE.
