BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - The speed cameras installed on highway 25 bypass by the Burke County Sheriff's Office are set to go live on April 29.

This comes days after the Burke County Sheriff's Office that the speed cameras would be delayed.

April 29 marks the beginning of the 30-day warning period for drivers traveling on the bypass.

Officials say the speed cameras will be used, because so many traffic violations are reported in the area, especially during school hours.

The speed cameras are already installed and will operate during school hours.

The sheriff's office is hoping the speed cameras will encourage people to drive the designated 45 miles per hour speed limit during school hours. The speed limit is 55 miles per hour during non-school hours.
