COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - A Columbia County sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital with injuries after a crash with another vehicle on William Few Parkway.

The driver and two passengers, a two-year-old and a five-month-old, were taken to the hospital for complaints and evaluation, according to sheriff's office officials.

The crash happened Wednesday, April 17 as the deputy was driving south in the outside lane of William Few Parkway with his emergency equipment activated on the way to an emergency call.

The driver of the other car was traveling north on the road in the left turn lane to the private drive of Riverwood Town Center. The driver didn't see the patrol car and turned left.

The right front of the car hit the front of Deputy Shane Duggan's patrol car.

Deputy Duggan was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening, visible injuries. Duggan is conscious and alert.

The driver of the car will be issued a citation for failure to yield.
