Sardis, Ga (WFXG) - Some are still left without power after a stormy Thursday morning for the CSRA.

Strong winds and heavy rains caused numerous trees to fall, hitting power lines.

In Sardis many residents woke up to no power.

Burke County EMA says the winds did cause a tree to fall and hit a person. They sustained minor injuries.

One Sardis resident says the worst part of the storm was how loud it was early Thursday morning.

“That night I heard the wind like a woooo sound, but I was kind of scared because there’s trees by my house. It’s kind of scared me, shook me up a little bit really,” said resident, Timothy Ellison.

Ellison says he was glad that the city cleaned the streets Thursday morning and Georgia Power did their job to turn his lights back on.

“They made sure the road was cleared so nobody had an incident or hurt nobody nothing like that,” said Ellison.  “Georgia Power was good too on their incident because they has a text message on a certain time and that certain time it was right on that time that it was back on.”

In Sardis, most residents that have Georgia Power, lights have been restored.

However, some residents who have Planters Electric remain without power.

Crews are still working to clean up tree debris all over town.
