Becky Hill, the Colleton County, South Carolina Clerk of Court accused of jury tampering in the highly-publicized trial of Alex Murdaugh, has resigned.

Hill was elected to the office in 2020 and soon after Murdaugh was found guilty of murdering his wife and son, she released a book about the trial. The book, entitled "Behind the Doors of Justice: The Murdaugh Murders" and co-authored by Augusta writer Neil Gordon, came under scrutiny amid allegations that Hill worked to influence the jury's decision.

Hill announced on March 25th that she would reign immediately, saying her decision was unrelated to ongoing investigations. She says she intends to spend time with family, including her two grandchildren.
