AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - No pinching in Downtown Augusta today during the St. Patrick's Day Parade with hundreds of people dressed in green!

Multiple clans showed out with their decorated floats for an early celebration.

WE HAVE OUR FAMILY FLOAT WE’VE BEEN DOING IT FOR OVER 20 YEARS. THIS IS OUR CELEBRATION TO OUR FATHER,said sheila reed on the o'neil family float

The streets: covered with beads and candy.

Answering the question of "How important is St. Patty's day to you and your family", Irish American Heritage Society member Alison Bowles says it's one of the most important holidays.

"Very important, next to my marriage, birth of my children and grandchildren, it's right up there with Christmas," said Bowles.

Bands played their best parade tunes and the crowds all throughout downtown were excited to celebrate the holiday, even if it was one day early.
