RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. - UPDATE: The Richmond County coroner confirms 38-year-old John Lowden, Jr., of Augusta, died in the shooting on Washington Road early Wednesday morning.

An autopsy will be scheduled.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office confirms one man is dead after a shots fired call Wednesday, February 28.

Deputies responded to the 2800 block of Washington Road to a shooting and one person down.

Once deputies arrived on scene, they found a man laying in the eastbound right lane of Washington Road.

The man was pronounced dead on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
