Aiken County Public Schools chooses new superintendent
AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. - The Aiken County Public School District is promoting one of their own to superintendent.
Dr. Corey Murphy, who is currently the District's Chief Officer of Operations and Student Services, will start serving as superintendent on July 1.
He is taking over for King Laurence who is retiring after the school year wraps up.
Murphy has 26 years of public education experience, most of which was in the state of South Carolina.
In a press release, Dr. Murphy said, "“I will be ready from day one to take charge and continue to work to maximize every child’s potential in safe and functional educational spaces.”
Murphy is a University of South Carolina alum where he earned a number of degrees, including a Bachelor of Science, Masters in Educational Leadership and Supervision, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration.
