Woman charged in head-on crash that killed 82-year-old man
COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. - A woman has been charged after a wreck in Columbia County that killed 82-year-old Eugene Hester last December.
Brittany Hodges, 32, of Thomson is charged with homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence of drugs, among others.
Columbia County Sheriff's Office reports Hodges was traveling west on I-20 near miles marker 194.5 when her vehicle struck the cable barrier and entered the east-bound lanes. She allegedly hit Hester's car head-on.
Toxicology revealed methamphetamine, methadone, and amphetamine, as well as a local anesthetic and a prescription anti-depressant allegedly present in Hodges's screen.
Hodges was booking into the Columbia County jail on February 8.
