Update: 69-year-old man identified as the person killed in crash on Sand Bar Ferry Road
Aiken County Coroner's Office has identified the pedestrian killed in a crash on Sand Bar Ferry Road.
According to Coroner Darryl Ables, the person had been identified as 69-year-old Vernon E. Mundy.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says the incident happened around 8 pm on Saturday, Feb. 10 on Sand Bar Ferry Rd, near Swamp Rd.
A 2022 Nissan with two passengers was traveling east on Sand Bar Ferry and hit Mundy while he was traveling south across Sand Bar Ferry Rd, according to a press release.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says Mundy died from injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The other two passengers inside the car were not injured.
The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and The Aiken County Coroner's Office.
