AUGUSTA, Ga. - Two men will serve life in prison following their convictions in the 2019 murder of a Hephzibah man.

District Attorney Jared Williams says Tareke Collins, 23 and Davon Jones, 32, both of Augusta, met Gerald Waldon near Walton Acres neighborhood intending to fight. Both were armed, according to the court's findings, and Waldon was shot execution-style while unarmed.

“The Violent Crimes & Gang Unit’s success over the past 3 years sends a singular message that I hope gang members and violent offenders will pay attention to,” said District Attorney Jared Williams after trial. “If you take a life, you will lose your life to the prison system.”

Both will serve life without parole, plus 5 years.
