Black History Month - Sheriff Richard Roundtree
AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Fox 54 continues to recognize Black History Month, by shining the spotlight on those in the community who are making a difference. Today's focus is on the Sheriff of Augusta Richmond County, Sheriff Richard Roundtree.
Richard Roundtree was born and raised in Augusta. After high school he was awarded a football scholarship at South Carolina State. After earning a degree in criminal justice went on to earn his masters a Troy State. Although a career in law enforcement has always been his goal, today it is as much about making a difference in the the community.
Sheriff Roundtree has a unique approach to his office. Putting people first in front of the politics. And his relationships with the people that he serves… are worth all of the sacrifice.
Those who know Sheriff Richard Roundtree see the example that he sets for others. And although his type of job with its responsibilities is not for everyone, he has some strong beliefs that have helped him through his career… and continue to carry him through his daily life.
