SALUDA, S.C. (WFXG) - National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Saluda County between Hunters Lane and Hollywood Road Saturday evening.

This severe weather event took place between 8:30pm and 9pm, January 27th, 2024.

Debris in fields and uprooted trees. Most of the reports included downed trees and minor roof damage.

"You could hear it. I didn't actually see this damage here, but I could hear it." said Chris Mitchell.

Saluda County Sheriff's Office alerted its residents about the damage in the area. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries or deaths.

"I don't like the weather like that. It's something to think about...You know how precious life is." said Mitchell.

A tree fell on a home on Hunter Lane. FOX54 spoke with the owner and she says that she was home alone at the time. She feels grateful for life because it could've been a different outcome. Many trees fell in the wooded area just next to her house.

The tornado path, width and length is still being analyzed at this time.

Saluda is now preparing for clean up in the areas that were affected the most.
