AIKEN, S.C. - Monday evening, Aiken City Council recognized their state champs! South Aiken High School Girl's Volleyball team won the state championship November Fourth in the AAAA category. The final score was 3-1 against North Myrtle Beach.

Teammates, parents and supporters showed up to the meeting Monday night, complete with their medals to receive a proclamation from council.

The coach says she couldn't be more proud of her team.

"It's been a definite fairytale ending, one that I will always remember. This group of girls means so much to me, and I try not to get emotional. The banquet is going to be like a 3-hour rendezvous I think," said Cassie McKie, Coach. 

This marks the first time in school history winning the SCHSL AAAA State Championship.
