AIKEN, S.C. - Animal shelters in the CSRA are still experiencing overcrowding, but the SPCA Albrecht Center is hosting events to hopefully help with this issue.

SPCA held a Purrs and Pours event at a local brewery in Aiken.

People could come by, play with kittens, and adopt one with no  fee.

Staff say events like this help out with the overcrowding in the center.

“Were still very overcrowded with dogs. We’re starting to be super overcrowded with cats, there are no empty kennels right now,” said Emily Garcia, SPCA’s cat care and foster coordinator.

Attendee Samiya Coleman said, “My mom says no, but I think we’re going to get one…. I’ll probably just walk out with him.”

If you’re looking to adopt, the next Purrs and Pours happens December 10th at the Alley Downtown Taproom.
