UPDATE: Suspect arrested for deadly convenience store shooting in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. - UPDATE: Investigators with the North Augusta Department of Public Safety arrested Frank Martin Jr. on October 27, 2023.
UPDATE (10/20/2023) - The Richmond County Coroner has confirmed the identity of the man who died in a shooting at the Mom & Pop's Convenience Store Thursday night.
Coroner Mark Bowen confirms the man is identified as 55-year-old Ricky Cooper. Cooper was taken to the Wellstar MCG emergency room where he was later pronounced dead.
PREVIOUS COVERAGE -- One man is dead and law enforcement is investigating after gunfire broke out at an Augusta convenience store Thursday night.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says deputies arrived to the scene of Mom & Pop's Convenience Store at 2025 Broad Street around 7:35 p.m.
There, deputies found a male who had been shot at least once. The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
