30th annual Border Bash returns ahead of rivalry weekend
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - In North Augusta, folks are kicking off the football rivalry weekend early with the 30th annual Border Bash at SRP Park. It takes place every year, ahead of the game between University of Georgia and South Carolina.
Saturdays game will be held in Athens. But, those in attendance were given the full tailgating experience, including performances from both teams cheerleaders and mascots as well as live music and a variety of food vendors.
The organization behind Border Bash also raised funds for local children's charities.
"It's a great tailgate party for the game the next day," Joel Simmons, President of The Border Bash Foundation says. "The Gamecock's club joined us a few years back and made it a joint venture and it's been something...we've been able to support local charities in Aiken, Savannah, Waynesboro and Thomson for the past 30 years."
