BURKE COUNTY (WFXG) - A Burke County High School student was arrested earlier this afternoon.

According to the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the school's resource officer got a call to a mall area at the school regarding a disruptive student.

The incident report also states that when the officer contacted him, he got agitated and assaulted the office.

The officer called for backup, and the student got physical with the second officer. The Sheriff's Office says the student was taken into custody. He will be transported to the youth detention center, according to the incident report. 

The student's parents were notified.

No weapons were involved in the incident, and no other students, staff, or faculty were affected. The two officers involved are being treated for their injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
