GROVETOWN, Ga. (WFXG) - The Grovetown Police Department is looking for 38-year-old Johnathan Jermaine Mathis on charges of battery, family violence and cruelty to children.

According to Grovetown Police, Mathis and his girlfriend broke up and while he was moving out they got into an argument.

The victim says she accidentally closed the door on his foot, causing him to take both her and her daughter's phone. That is when deputies say the victim alleges Mathis began hitting the woman in her face. 

The victim says her children tried to get Mathis to stop hitting their mother, but he pushed them away. Police say the victim had a busted lip and a bloody nose. They also observed minor cuts and bruises on the children. 

Deputies believe Mathis is driving a 1999 Black Dodge Durango with Georgia tag SBY9158.
