JOHNSTON, S.C. (WFXG) - The 39th Annual Peach Blossom Festival returns to Johnston, South Carolina. This family-friendly festival is put on by the Johnston Development Corporation.

People shared their excitement about the event. Joshua Coursey tells FOX54 that he enjoyed seeing his niece in the parade and he's looking forward to all the food.

"I am thirsty, maybe some funnel cake." said Coursey.

People lined the streets for the annual parade. This festival allows locals to celebrate the Peach Industry and show farmers just how much they are appreciated.

"The festival has crafts and stuff. It's really a nice time and day to be out." said Horace Griffin

Apollo 16 Astronaut, Charles Duke was the Grand Marshal. Duke is one out of four men alive who has been to the moon. He was honored with the keys to the city.

Those who attended the festival were able to meet with him, hear his stories, ask questions and take pictures. Duke says that it was wonderful to be back in Johnston.

"To see that Downtown Johnston is sort of the same, as I remember. We love it here." said Duke.
