SLED investigates officer-involved shooting in Dillon County, SC

DILLON COUNTY, SC (WFXG) - On Tuesday, Mar. 21, an officer-involved shooting happened in Dillon County, South Carolina. According to SLED, the incident began when deputies from the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina responded to a home near Lake View, SC, searching for an individual believed to Dibe involved in a North Carolina drive-by shooting.
As deputies approached the residence, gunfire was exchanged between an armed male subject and the deputies. The deputies left the property and called the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to handle the investigation.
SLED agents, including the SLED SWAT team, SLED’s Aviation Unit, SLED’s Crime Scene Unit, and SLED Region Agents, responded to the scene. The armed suspect, Jessie Armando Aceves, 31, was taken into custody shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Mar. 22.
According to SLED, no one was injured in the exchange of gunfire.
Aceves has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, unlawful possession of a handgun, pointing and presenting a gun, and discharge of a firearm into a vehicle.
The 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will prosecute the case. The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing.
