Augusta National to hold special invitational for PGA Tour: Road to the Masters game

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - Augusta National Golf Club is inviting celebrities to play the new EA Sports PGA Tour: Road to the Masters game, just as Masters Week is getting started. The Road to the Masters Invitational is set to be held Sunday, Apr. 2; the day before the first practice round of the 87th Masters Tournament.
Augusta National says players from across a wide range of industries, including sports, entertainment, gaming, and social media will gather in the Augusta National Press Building to play in front of a live audience and stream to multiple different sites starting at 6 p.m. EST. The Road to the Masters Invitational will stream live on Masters.com, @TheMasters on Twitter, the Masters Facebook page, and YouTube account, as well as @EA and @EASPORTSPGATOUR on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, the EA Sports Facebook page, ESPN+, and the ESPN app. An edited version of the show will broadcast on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. Apr. 5. The list of players will be announced at a later date.
Golf Channel's Rich Lerner will host, while CBS's Amanda Renner and ESPN’s Michael Collins and Marty Smith provide live analysis. Four teams of two will play in an alternate-shot format. After nine holes, the top two teams will advance to a three-hole, alternate-shot final round at Amen Corner, hole #11-13 at Augusta National Golf Club.
Road to the Masters Invitational is a private event and tickets are not on sale, but the audience will be invited and include the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta and the First Tee of Augusta. Expected guests also include the winners of the 2023 Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals, 2022 Asia-Pacific Amateur champion Harrison Crowe, 2023 Latin America Amateur champion Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira, and competitors from the 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
And if you want to play EA SPORTS PGA TOUR: Road to the Masters yourself, you will launch the week of the 87th Masters Tournament with an early access release on Tuesday, Apr. 4 and worldwide launch on Friday, Apr. 7. Proceeds of the video game sales earned by Augusta National will be contributed to the Masters Tournament Foundation.
