Man wanted for burglarizing Augusta business, owner's home

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to find a man wanted for burglary.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 28, deputies responded to Automotive Experts on Scott Nixon Memorial Dr. for a reported burglary. The owner told deputies he was notified of motion inside the business by the alarm company. When he went to the shop, he saw an ex-employee, fifty-six-year-old Roy Rabun, taking tools from the business. The owner chased Rabun, but he managed to escape. While searching the area around the business, investigators discovered that a shed on the property had been broken into and ransacked.
The owner told deputies he'd recently fired Rabun, who he says told him he would "kill him and destroy his shop."
The owner and deputies found a tool bag outside the shop containing tools and silverware, which the owner says had been taken from his home. Around two hours after the initial call to Automotive Experts, deputies responded to a call at the owner's home. He told deputies his home had been burglarized as well. The owners reported that several tools had been taken from his home, but he hadn't taken inventory of what was missing.
The sheriff's office obtained burglary warrants for Rabun's arrest and is searching for him.
Rabun is described as being around 5ft. 7in. tall and 126 lbs. He's known to frequent the area around Old McDuffie Rd. and Barton Chapel Rd. If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact Inv. Ryan Ferguson at 706-821-1032 or any on-duty investigator at 706-821-1020.
