Help choose new Highland Springs Middle School mascot

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WFXG) - As Aiken County Public Schools (ACPSD) prepares to open its newest campus, Highland Springs Middle School (HSMS), fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming 2023-24 competitive athletic seasons. However, one important decision has yet to be made – the selection of the school's official mascot.
The school's principal, Paige Day, has invited future HSMS students, parents/guardians, teachers/staff, and the entire school community to cast their ballots and help decide between the Tridents, River Rapids, Riverhawks, or Titans. Voting can be done by clicking here. Voting will close at midnight on Sunday, Mar. 12.
“Choosing the mascot for Highland Springs Middle School is such an important step in the branding and identity of our school,” said Day. “It has always been important to me to gain as much input from our stakeholders as possible and voting on the mascot is the first step in this process.”
The upcoming athletic seasons at HSMS will include football, volleyball, basketball, golf, and cheerleading. The school is currently staffing coaching positions, ordering equipment, and preparing the athletic field to ensure the best possible experience for students.
“Being involved in athletics and extracurricular activities brings unity to a school and allows students the full experience of middle school,” continued Day. “We are eager to show the other ACPSD middle school teams just what a contender HSMS is going to prove to be in the 23-24 school year and beyond.”
With the mascot decision soon to be made, excitement is building for the opening of HSMS and the many opportunities it will provide for students.
