Aiken County Sheriff's Office
AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WFXG) - The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has fired the deputy involved in a shooting earlier this week.
The sheriff's office says just after 10 a.m. on Mar. 7, Deputy Christopher Williams stopped a black Nissan Pathfinder near the intersection of Howlandville Rd. and Cemetery Rd. and, after a confrontation with the driver, fired a shot into the vehicle. An interval review by the sheriff's office found that Deputy Williams violated its Use of Force Policy and terminated him on Mar. 8.
SLED is still investigating the incident.
The sheriff's office says Williams had worked with them since December 2021.
