SLED investigating officer-involved shooting in Aiken County
AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WFXG) - SLED has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Aiken County.
According to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Christopher Williams stopped a black Nissan Pathfinder near the intersection of Howlandville Rd. and Cemetery Rd. shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Reports say Deputy Williams fired one shot into the vehicle during a confrontation with the driver, twenty-nine-year-old Brittany Norton. Investigators say Norton drove away and was taken into custody after a chase.
The sheriff's office charged Norton with failure to stop for a blue light and possession of a schedule IV substance. No one was injured in the confrontation.
The sheriff's office called SLED in to investigate and shooting and placed Deputy Williams on administrative leave.
