Georgia Soul beats Central Florida Force in season opener, 121-113

AUGUSTA, Ga (WFXG) - The Georgia Soul Men's Basketball team officially kicked off their season, playing their season opener against Central Florida Force. 

At each home game, there will be a theme. Tonight's theme was "Kid's Day."  

This first game of the TBL season was one for the books. Georgia Soul showed up and showed out, leaving it all on the court. 

Starting out the game strong...number 7 - Marcus McDaniel made the first shot for the Souls. Shortly after, number 24 - Patrell Rogers scored as well. 

During media timeous staff included children in mini-games to win prizes. 

At the half, Georgia lead the game 52-68. The players were neck and neck with the other team. Both teams suffered greatly from multiple turnovers.

In the end, Georgia secured the win, Marcus McDaniel ended the game with a 3-pointer, with an ending score of 113-121.

"Our coaches do great at drawing things up for us...believing in our coaches and ourselves," said McDaniel.

Leading scorers for the Soul were number 10 - J.J. Richardson with 24 points, number seven - Marcus McDaniel, and number 12 - San Antonio Brinson with 21 points. Central Florida Force's leading scorers were number 6 - Dominic Douglas with 28 points, and number 31 - Marlon Hunter with 31 points.

Rookie J.J. Richardson started his season well and helped to carry his team to their first season win. The dynamic between Richardson, McDaniel, and Rogers was a sight to see. 

"Now that we are over that hump, we can learn from what we did. I think we are going to be good this year," expressed Patrell Rogers.

Georgia Soul plays again Sunday at Paine College H.E.A.L Complex -  vs. Gulf Coast Lions at 3:30 pm.
