MARTINEZ, Ga. (WFXG) - The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Martinez man for sexually assaulting a woman.

According to an incident report, deputies responded to a home in Martinez on Jan. 19. The victim told deputies she's been sexually assaulted in her sleep by twenty-one-year-old Jimmy Edward Smith, Jr.

She sheriff's office says they arrested Smith Jan. 27 and charged him with sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, and unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance.
