ATLANTA (WFXG) - The Supreme Court of Georgia has confirmed an Augusta man will spend life behind bars for a murder he and a friend committed when they were teenagers.

William Clark, now 26, was sentenced in 2016 for the shooting death of 30-year-old Anthony King on Crawford Ave. He received the maximum sentence, life without the possibility of parole, plus 30 years. Clark was 16 years old at the time of the murder.

Clark's friend, Jeremiah Kelly, who was 15 at the time of the murder, was also found guilty. In 2015, he received life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 55 years.

Kelly's case was also reviewed by the Georgia Supreme Court and was to be considered for a retrial. The Supreme Court concluded that request was not filed in the proper jurisdiction. The request for retrial will have to proceed through the court system again.
