columbia county, Ga. (WFXG) - on monday, EVANS TOWNE CENTER PARK CELEBRATed THE HOLIDAY’S A LITTLE BIT EARLY THIS YEAR. HUNDREDS CAME out to celebrate the parks ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LIGHTS OPEN HOUSE.

COLUMBIA COUNTY PROGRAMS AND EVENTS MANAGER, JANET WHEATLEY SAYS THEY LIKE TO GO ALL OUT WHEN IT COMES TO CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AND THIS YEAR IS NO EXCEPTION. The park REVEALED A BRAND NEW CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DISPLAY AND a 50 FOOT CHRISTMAS TREE. “THIS YEAR WE’VE ADDED A TON of NEW DISPLAYS, ALMOST EVERY DISPLAY THAT WE HAVE IS NEW," says wheatley. "WE’VE RETIRED A FEW OF THE OLD ONES...WE HAVE OVER 100 DISPLAYS FOR PEOPLE TO LOOK AT AND when WE LIGHT OUR CHRISTMAS TREE, WE HAVE 18,000 FEET OF CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON OUR NEW 50 foot TREE.”

columbia county residents ALSO CAME OUT TO ENJOY EVANS ON ICE AND THE MANY FOOD AND COffee TRUCKS ON DISPLAY.

IN CASE YOU MISSED the open house, WHEATLEY SAYS YOU’LL HAVE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY IN A few WEEKS. SUNDAY, DECEMBER the 4TH IS OUR CHRISTMAS IN COLUMBIA COUNTY EVENT." "THAT STARTS AT 2:00 AND WE’LL HAVE A HOLIDAY MARKET WITH OVER 50 VENDORS, WE’LL HAVE FOOD TRUCKS, PICTURES WITH SANTA, LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND AT THE END OF THE EVENING AROUND 6:30 WE’ll LIGHT UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE AND SHOOT OFF FIREWORKS.”

THE CHRISTMAS DISPLAYS AND ICE SKATING RINK WILL BE OPEN THROUGHOUT THE HOLIDAY SEASON AND INTO THE NEW YEAR.
