ATLANTA (WFXG) - The Speaker of the Georgia House, David Ralston, has died. He was sixty-eight years old. The announcement comes from Ralston's Communication Director via Twitter.


Ralston was elected to the position of Speaker of the Georgia House in 2010 and served until his death. He recently announced that he would not be seeking reappointment. He was the longest-serving Speaker of a state house in the country.

Governor Brian Kemp issued a statement Wednesday Night about Ralston's death. He's ordering that flag in Georgia be flown at half-mast.
