Aiken County vehicle pursuit ends in Richmond County, police say
AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WFXG) - The Aiken County Sheriff's Office was involved in a vehicle pursuit early Friday morning.
Officials tell FOX54 they got a call about an armed robbery near King Street in Aiken around 9:40 a.m. Friday. The Sheriff's Office says during the robbery that an individual was shot in the leg. That person is said to be in good condition.
Deputies say when they arrived that a suspect was seen leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. That is when they say the vehicle pursuit began.
The suspect traveled on several roads including I-20 west and I-520. Officials say the suspect then got out of his vehicle and fled on foot just over the border in Georgia.
At this time, Aiken County Officials say a suspect is in custody near Sea Isles Drive in Richmond County. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation since the suspect crossed over into Georgia.
