BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - A Burke County mother is facing a serious charge, after the sheriff's office arrested her for encouraging her 9-year-old daughter to fight another girl. The Burke County Sheriff’s office says that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. However, the suspect's neighbors have different opinions.

Burke County, Major of Field Operations, Chad Plueger says,“if there's problems between kids, then the parents need to contact law enforcement instead of taking it upon themselves to get their kids to fight." The past few days, the sheriff's office has received videos from schools. “Adults bringing children together for the purpose of them fighting."

37-year-old, Tila Medlock of Leonard Circle in Waynesboro was charged on two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and committed to Burke County Detention Center, after, accompanying her juvenille daughter, who approached a 10-year-old female that had issues with her daughter. She stated, “if you want to fight my daughter, get at it. In a video posted on the Burke County Sheriff's Office, Facebook page, the two are shown fighting while deputies claim Medlock was watching. An unidentified male later broke up the fight.

The Sheriff’s Office also released a statement on their Facebook page, saying in part: "this behavior will not be tolerated and we expect to prosecute Medlock and any other parent who believes this is the best course of action to solve children's issues to the fullest extent of the law.”

However, Pecan Grove neighbors of Medlock's, have a much different approach. The majority say they do not see an issue with her actions. In fact, some find it beneficial for kids to resolve their issues on their own, even if that means resulting to violence.

The Sheriff's Office tells me that there was another incident in Burke County involving juvenilles fighting. They have outstanding warrants for that suspect and are currently looking for them.
