Two county vehicle pursuit ends in shooting
(AUGUSTA, GA) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office reports it engaged in a vehicle pursuit early Saturday morning that led into Burke County and ended with the driver of that vehicle shooting himself.
According to a release, "The pursuit carried over into Burke County and the Burke County Sheriff's Office assisted our agency along with the Georgia State Patrol in the pursuit. Deputies were able to immobilize Lord's vehicle using a spike strip. Shane Lord exited his vehicle with a gun and shot himself one time. Lord succumbed to his injury."
Investigators say Shane Lord had multiple warrants against him including one for Aggravated Stalking.
Coroner Mark Bowen says in a release, "Lord was transported to Augusta University Medical Center by EMS where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. An autopsy has been scheduled with the GBI."
