BEECH ISLAND, S.C. (WFXG) - The Aiken County Coroner's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist, now identified as 63-year-old Ronald Maxey of Waynesboro, Georgia. Maxey was pronounced dead on scene Saturday night from blunt force injuries.

According to the Coroner's Office, the crash happened Saturday just after 8:00 p.m. on Atomic Road near Augusta Road in Beech Island. The Coroner's Office says Maxey was traveling south on Augusta Road and tried to exit north to Atomic Road at a high speed. Officials say that's when the motorcycle left the left side of the road, crossed both northbound lanes of Atomic Road and crashed into a Kia Soul driving south.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office says toxicology analysis are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
