(WFXG) WFXG FOX54 is proud to announce veteran local journalist Ashley Campbell has joined the News Now Team. Ashley is no stranger to the CSRA. She was born and raised in the Columbia County town of Appling. She graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1999 and went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications with a Minor in Theatre at Augusta University.

In 2007, Ashley started as an Associate Producer at NBC Augusta. Ashley was soon promoted to reporter and eventually Weekend Anchor. During that time, she launched a popular segment called, “Restaurant Report Card” which showcased new restaurants while also dishing out the high and low health scores of local eateries throughout Georgia & South Carolina. Ashley has also had the honor of walking the hallowed grounds of the Augusta National Golf Club for several years, covering The Masters Golf Tournament.

After almost ten years at Augusta’s NBC affiliate, Ashley was hired as Weekend Anchor/Reporter for WJBF NewsChannel 6 where she won first place for “Best Series Reporting” by the Georgia Associated Press. Other awards include Augusta’s Best Weekend Anchor in 2014, 2015 and 2016 along with Augusta’s Best Reporter in 2016, as voted by the community.

Ashley has been featured on, Dateline NBC, the Oxygen Channel’s Snapped, the I.D. Channel and others - all focusing on the 2009 brutal murder of Kay Parsons.

In 2018, Ashley decided to take a break from the news business to focus on her family, particularly her daughter, McKenna, who has Autism. During her hiatus from TV news, she worked in Public Relations for a local nonprofit and was the Public Information Officer for the City of Grovetown, getting a crash course in government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, Ashley has returned to her roots as Anchor/Executive Producer for WFXG FOX54. You can catch her delivering the news of the day at 6:30 p.m. with Marc Blaine Monday through Friday starting February 14, 2022.
