(AUGUSTA, Ga) - As fast as it fell, the snow and patchy ice will soon be a memory as the temperatures are rising above freezing across the CSRA.  Temperatures in the 40's are expected to melt away any patches of black ice.  Drivers are still advised to be careful as there may still be some sections of roads, bridges and overpasses where icing may take longer to melt.

The snowfall, which started around 8pm in parts of the FOX54 viewing area lasted until around midnight.  Any accumulations were expected to be no more than 1.5 inches.  Most locations saw about half an inch to one inch.

But for about 3 hours Friday night, many people stopped to go outside and enjoy the rare winter snow that made its way south, even for just a short time.  See even more photos here.
