AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Craft & Vine in downtown Augusta looks like something straight out of a movie because that’s the idea! The holiday themed bar and restaurant is based on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Time is running out for you to check out this holiday hotspot. Craft & Vine's bar executive, Calvin Dotson, says,  “We spend a solid 20-30 hours before we even open up just in decorating. We come in very early on our off days, put in a lot of hard-work, hanging lights, Christmas presents wrapping, wrapping our sound boards all kinds of different things. It’s a lot of labor, a lot of work but a lot of love we do love it.”

The décor isn’t the only thing that’s festive. They have an entire holiday themed menu. Dotson says, “I’m a huge fan of the flatbread wreath. We also have the 'Home Alone' pizza, the cheese pizza that’s based on the movie.”

Dotson is in charge of crafting the Christmas themed cocktails. He says, “ (it takes) Lots of lots of different homework. Our first time doing Christmas I peeked at other restaurants, looked at their hot, cold drinks and from there just kind of played with it and tweaked with it.”

Right now -- their top seller is the 'Grand Muletide' –which is a play on a traditional Moscow Mule. Dotson says, “Definitely one of our more popular cocktails. We’re selling 300 of these a week. It’s a vodka-based drink. It’s gonna have lime, simple (syrup) and cranberry in it and we top it off with some ginger beer.”

This is the restaurant’s second year transforming into a Christmas vacation. FOX54's Danielle Ledbetter calls it a holiday hot spot because it can be a little difficult to get in. “We’re crushing numbers right now people are very happy people are very excited to be here. It’s a grand time overall, ”says Dotson.

He adds, ”The best way to get in and get a decent time would be to put your name on the wait list or be outside the door as soon as we open.”

Even after the holidays, Dotson says Craft & Vine is perfect for a night out on the town. “If you haven’t checked us out yet please do. It’s a great time even outside of Christmas a lot of our other themes are a lot of fun from valentine’s day to ski week to Halloween.”

The Christmas theme will be up until the end of the month. The restaurant is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
